Subject: WE WON! THANKS TO EVERYONE’S HARD WORK – S20 PASSES – ON TO GOV. HALEY’S DESK
My Fellow Patriots,The House concurred with the senate amendments to S.20, thus almost making this bill a law. The Governor now has to sign the bill. Please call her office 803.734.2100 and ask Gov. Haley to sign S.20 into law or send her an e-mail here.
You as individuals and those of you as leaders of organizations came through and thanks to your effort, S.20 was passed 69-43. We overcame surprising opposition from 5 individuals who identified themselves to lawmakers as speaking for the entire Lexington “Tea Party.” By the time it was recited on the debate floor, it was the entire Tea Party and “Campaign for Liberty” opposed S.20, not so.
Their concern was unfounded as they thought E-Verify collects data. But instead of asking or going to websites that explain what E-Verify does, they decided to try to kill the bill. This, along with an individual who reads things that just aren’t there, made us spent a lot of time and energy unnecessarily. But it was our coming together that made this a success.
We had a real friend in the House of Representative, freshman House Republican member Tom Corbin (R- Travelers Rest), who fought every step of the way to first get the vote favorably out of both sub-committee and committee and led the fight for passage on Tuesday. Tom Corbin is an example of what every legislator should be. He saw the need for this law and made sure that this bill was passed.
Please send Tom Corbin a thank you note for leading the way, and don’t forget to thank the legislators who voted for this, particularly the Speaker Bobby Harrell who ultimately made this happen by defending the use of E-Verify and the rest of the S.20 legislation. And in the senate, Senator Larry Martin proved to be quite a statesmen and leader. We stayed in touch every step of the way. He deserves a big thank you along with the original sponsor of the bill, Senator Larry Grooms.Bales Battle Bowers

We must thank our legislators when they do what is right. We should also steer them in the right direction when they get off track. Not all incumbents are bad. They need our help and we need to chip in for the goodness of our Community, State and Nation.
Again, you all should be proud of what we were able to accomplish. I thank you for your collaboration on this endeavor and look forward to working with you on many other issues that need to be addressed so that we can make South Carolina a better and freer state to live.
Remember, if we educate our elected officials, they just may do the right thing. They are used to receiving information only from lobbyists. With the various abilities that the members of the new liberty movements bring to the table, we should be able to address every single issue that comes before our General Assembly, as well as put forth those issues that need to be addressed.
May God Bless U.S. and indeed, the South!
